Drive ‘n’ Hear was formed when we realised that there were very few options to people like us who wanted to travel the world in the comfort of our own vehicle, at our own pace, with local information that didn’t cost a small fortune.
We know what it is like to be bundled into tour buses and forced to keep to schedule. We know how it feels to juggle maps and guide books and pore over travel articles trying to work out how to see it all in the precious amount of time you have.
We’ve had the pleasure of local tour guides, who have managed to teach us about traditions and culture, sometimes just for the price of lunch. We have also had to return the guide at the end of the day! We have also had others who have taken us straight to their cousin the craftsperson for “best deal”….
We understand that sometimes you will only have a day to fill, but that another time you will want to explore the same area for days, possibly filling your whole holiday.
We know the feeling of being given fantastic recommendations for hotels from guidebooks, but still left wondering what makes a place special, besides the scenery?
We appreciate that sometimes you spend so much time getting to your holiday that you feel like you’ve “endured” the journey, rather than really absorbed and appreciated what you have been passing. We understand that being able to be in the moment is a true gift.
Drive ‘n’ Hear is your local guide to some of the world’s most scenic drives, starting with the Great Ocean Road and The Shipwreck Coast in Australia. Every road trip is contained on CD or can be downloaded to MP3, and comes complete with a map, or Explorer’s Key. You could complete each guided journey within a day, but we hope you will take as long as you need – you will find enough to do and see to fill days if you have them!
